Boomelli Wins the Listed Calaway Gal at Eagle Farm

Boomelli added a Listed win to her record on Anzac Day, taking out the $200,000 BRC Calaway Gal Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm under Ben Thompson for trainer Tony Gollan.

The 2YO Spirit of Boom filly was purchased by Boomer Bloodstock in conjunction with Paul Beamish for $160,000 out of Robyn Wise’s Book 2 draft at the 2025 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale. Tony Gollan had a client keen on her at the time, so rather than competing against each other at the sale, we joined forces.

She’s by Spirit of Boom out of the Foxwedge mare Foxarelli, a tough, speedy combination that appealed from the outset. Her QTIS eligibility was a further drawcard given the program Queensland offers for fillies.

Boomelli settled third from the inside gate and pulled clear in the straight to win by close to a length and three quarters. Three wins and a placing from five starts, with earnings to over $220,000.

Congratulations to Paul Beamish, Tony Gollan, Ben Thompson, and all the connections involved.

Note: Since this article was written Boomelli has since finished third in the G3 Ken Russell Memorial Classic taking her prize money to $240,000.
