2022 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale Purchases

The Inglis Easter Yearling Sale is the pinnacle of the Australian yearling calendar with the top pedigrees on show from around the country. Boomer Bloodstock was delighted with its purchases for clients highlighted by a $1million Zoustar colt for The Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Lot 63 Written By x Atmospherical filly $280,000

All year Boomer has been impressed with the types that Written By has been producing and this filly is no different. Purchased from the formidable Widden Stud, this well-balanced filly is out of a well performed Stakes winner and is from a strong speed family that includes G1 Oakleigh Plate winner, Eagle Falls. She was purchased for client Murray Thoroughbreds who will race the filly before she eventually joins their ever-improving band of broodmares.

Lot 66 The Autumn Sun x Axiomatic colt $750,000

This colt was purchased in conjunction with John O’Shea and was one of the more well put together progeny of first season sire, The Autumn Sun, who was obviously a Champion on the racetrack so we’re hopeful that will carry over onto his sons. His sloping shoulder and strong hindquarter were a major attraction as well as being stamped by his sire. In terms of pedigree this colt’s dam is a half-sister to Champion NZ 3YO and sire, Xtravagant. On top of this the cross of Redoute’s Choice and O’Reilly has already produced Group 1 winner Shout The Bar, Group 2 winner Splintex and strikes at 73% winners to runners.

Lot 421 Maurice x Shengli filly $300,000

Another yearling purchased in conjunction with John O’Shea this son of Maurice caught our eye with his scope and athleticism. Maurice continues to go from strength to strength with Hitotsu dominating the Derbys with Arrowfield Stud continuing to be the one of the top breeders in the country. This colt has a beautiful walk with plenty of length that he can grow into. In terms of pedigree his dam is half-sister to G3 winner, Malavio.

Lot 426 Exceed And Excel x Sky Treasure filly $300,000

American broodmares are continuing to produce excellent results here in Australia with horses such as impressive first season sire, Russian Revolution, new sire Wild Ruler and G1 winner I Am A Star all out of mares with the USA suffix. That gave us great confidence to purchase this filly from Newgate who is an exceptional type as well. By Exceed And Excel and out of a G2 winner, this filly oozes quality. She has class and scope and looks to be set for a strong racing career.

Lot 458 Dundeel x Sweet Victory colt $250,000

Boomer Bloodstock teamed up with Randwick based trainer John O’Shea to purchase three yearlings with the G1 winning trainer consisting of two colts and one filly.  The Autumn Sun colt from Torryburn Stud is a half-brother to the promising John O’Shea trained three year old This’llbetheone and is a classic type of colt.  The Maurice filly from Arrowfield Stud is by a stallion Boomer has a lot of time for and is a beautiful type from a solid blacktype family.  The Dundeel colt from Vinery stud was purchased in conjunction with fellow FBAA member Suman Hedge Bloodstock and is compact colt from a very talented American mare.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club

Lot 22 Dundeel x Whispering Brook colt $525,000

This colt kicked off the sale for Boomer Bloodstock and it was another Dundeel, this time heading overseas to Hong Kong. Arrowfield Stud continue to produce top quality yearlings and this year was no different when they sold 58 yearlings at Easter for over $30m. He is the first foal out of the highly talented, multiple G2 winning sprinting mare Whispering Brook and has inherited his sire’s looks. This colt has the foundations of a quality horse and with plenty of growing still to come he is tailor made for Hong Kong.

Lot 107 Exceed and Excel x Cheetara colt $400,000

Exceed and Excel continues to produce high quality horses year in year out, including success in Hong Kong with horses such as multiple G1 winner, Mr Stunning. This colt was raised on the fertile Corumbene Stud, and is a half brother to G3 Pago Pago Stakes winner, Single Bullet. The second dam is dual G1 winner, Dashing Eagle.. He has an extremely strong hindquarter and a powerful chest which suggest he will have plenty of speed.

Lot 299 Per Incanto x Monarch colt $560,000

Purchased from one of the top vendors at the sale in Bhima Thoroughbreds, this colt was a must have in Boomer’s eyes.  A full brother to G1 winner Santa Monica, he has a well-balanced walk and powerful shoulder. His sire has been very consistent in Hong Kong and is very popular amongst the trainers and owners alike and will be an ideal prospect for the HKJC International Sale.

Lot 329 Zoustar x One More Honey colt $1,000,000

Boomer Bloodstock’s first ever $1m yearling purchase came on Day 2 and what a fantastic colt to do it with . An outstanding type in every sense of the word, this colt was purchased from the high quality farm at Emirates Park. Zoustar had an incredible Easter culminating in a sale-topping $3m colt so it was exciting to be able to purchase a colt of this caliber. He is the second foal of the G2 winner One More Honey who is a half-sister to G1 winner Vega One and has already produced an excellent two-year-old winner and G2 placed colt Man in the Mirror.

Lot 469 Deep Field x The Soloist colt $750,000

The final purchase for The Hong Kong Jockey Club was a Deep Field colt from the draft of Torryburn Stud. A powerful, well balanced individual, this colt is the first foal of his dam who is a half-sister to the G1 winning Hong Kong sprinter Hot King Prawn.  His sire Deep Field has also had success in Hong Kong including recent G1 winner, Sky Field. He’s a stallion that produces strong individuals, which is evident once again in this yearling and he is another ideal prospect for the Hong Kong International Sale.
