Boomer Bloodstock secures eight broodmares at Magics

The Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale is one of the highlights of the year, offering an abundance of quality race fillies off the track as young well credentialed  mares. We managed to secure eight in total for clients Daandine Stud, Musk Creek Farm, Misty Valley Thoroughbreds, Murray Thoroughbreds and an overseas client.

Lot 719 Sweet Dolly $320k

Our first purchase of the Sale was the good looking, stakes-winning two-year-old Sweet Dolly (Real Saga) from Kenmore Lodge for $320k. She’s an athletic mare built for early speed and will be a welcome addition to the Daandine Stud broodmare band.

Lot 639 – Friar Fox $120k

The second purchase of the Sale was Friar Fox (Blackfriars) from Blue Gum Farm for $120k, after a sale was negotiated following her original passing in for $250k in the sale ring. The multiple stakes-winning mare and over $530k earner is a fantastic addition to the Misty Valley Thoroughbreds broodmare band in Western Australia.

Lot 959 Aalaalune $750k

Purchased for $750k from Westbury Stud, Aalaalune (Reliable Man) will be heading to Musk Creek Farm. She’s a stunning grey mare who was G1-placed and the second leading New Zealand 2YO Filly on 2018-19 International Ratings. Her full sister, De La Terre is a G3 winner and further down the page are G2 winners Osborne Bulls and Viridine. She’s currently in foal to Waikato Stud’s Champion Sire Savabeel, adding value to an already impressive mare.

Lot 979 Attribution $190k

We love purchasing mares from the Darley draft as they always come with impressive families with Attribution (Exceed And Excel) being no different. Purchased for $190k, the Sydney City race-winning mare is out of G2 Silver Slipper winner Plagiarize, who is a half-sister to G1 NZ Oaks winner Tapildo and Haiku, dam of G1 winner Japonisme. Attribution is in foal to World Champion Sprinter, Harry Angel, a young sire who has already seen success at the yearling sales this year and was purchased for an overseas client to breed to race in Australia.

Lot 1058 Dis Dah Wun $170k

Dis Dah Wun (Dissident) was purchased for $170k from Kansas Plains Stud and is another solid addition to the Murray Thoroughbred’s broodmare band at Three Bridges Thoroughbreds. A four-time winner herself, she is a half-sister to dual G3 winner Sylvia’s Mother. The second dam has had an impressive 11 winners to date including G1 winner Bel Mer. Dis Dah Wun is in foal to Pierata, an exciting G1-winning son of Pierro.

Lot 1240 Okeechobee $300k

The Spendthrift Australia dispersal offered a host of wonderful opportunities, so we were thrilled to secure Okeechobee (Sebring), in foal to Dirty Work for $300k on behalf of Daandine Stud. Bred on the same More Than Ready/Exceed And Excel Cross as G1 winner and sire Bivouac, she’s a talented city-winning, half-sister to Listed winner Scorched Earth, from an extremely precocious family that includes G3 Kindergarten Stakes winner Furnaces.

Lot 1279 Repeats $70k

Repeats (I Am Invincible) presented great value at the price when you consider she’s a daughter of I Am Invincible and in foal to exciting young stallion Bivouac. Purchased from Vinery Stud and from a strong 2YO family, she is a well-conformed mare with good strength and will be heading to Daandine Stud.

Lot 1288 Grand Scholar $700k

Finally to round out the Sale and further enhance Daandine Stud’s broodmare band, we purchased Grand Scholar (Wandjina) from Widden Stud for $700k. Out of a G3 winner, the athletic stakes-placed mare who hails from a sharp female line, is in foal to Zoustar and was his first cover of the season in 2021, which adds tremendous value considering he was the sire of the top priced yearling of 2022 at $3 million.
