The Tattersalls December Mare Sale has long been an excellent source of top-quality fillies and mares, and working on behalf of Peter Murray of Murray Thoroughbreds Boomer Bloodstock secured a very exciting daughter of the in-form sire No Nay Never who is set to race on in Australia.
Waiting until the end of the first day to strike, the 3-year-old filly Silent Monarch was secured for 170,000gns (A$304,800) from trainer George Boughey’s Saffron House Stables. She is unbeaten in both of her starts, and showed good speed racing over 1500 metres both times. She is out of the unraced Giant’s Causeway mare Causeway Queen, and is a half-sister to a stakes performer. Causeway Queen herself is a half-sister to G3 Dee Stakes winner Astrology and Listed winner Sandro Botticelli.
“She is a gorgeous 3-year-old filly who is unbeaten in two starts this season,” Rounsefell commented. “The plan is to race her on in Australia before joining Peter’s broodmare band at Three Bridges. She is a lovely outcross from a quality family that should be well suited to Australia.”
