Boomer buys 14 at Magics 2024

The Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale is amongst Australia’s best and this year’s edition was high on quality. Boomer Bloodstock was pleased to walk away with 14 purchases in total, including six for The Hong Kong Jockey Club.

We found some great value for our loyal clients at a range of price points, and we are really excited to see what they can do on the track.

LOT 28 WOOTTON BASSETT X PATSY BOYNE, FILLY

Secured from Bhima Thoroughbreds for $500,000, this Wootton Bassett filly was a stand out in terms of both pedigree and physique. The seventh foal of a three-quarter sister to High Chaparral and Black Bear Island, her page features ten group winners under the second dam. Her Kingman half-brother is a Group 3 winner in France and given her exceptional quality and natural athleticism, this filly looks an exciting prospect for her new owner Catalyst Stable, who will race her in America.

LOT 86 ADMIRE MARS X REALITY SHOW, FILLY

Consigned by Longwood Thoroughbreds, this filly is from the first crop of exciting Japanese prospect, Admire Mars. Showing an abundance of scope and balance through her frame, she immediately announces herself as an athlete. Coupled with a bright outlook and level head, she looks an exciting prospect as both a racehorse and future broodmare for her new American-based owner. The Sunday Silence line marks Admire Mars as an interesting outcross for American breeding and with a strong female family, descending from Horse Of The Year, Let’s Elope, this filly will undoubtedly prove an excellent addition to their racing and breeding enterprise.

LOT 337 DEEP FIELD X VIENNESE STAR, COLT (HKJC)

This athletic colt, acquired for the Hong Kong Jockey Club, looks an exciting prospect for the international stage from proven breeders Daandine Stud. From the family of G1w Redeiner, he demonstrates a forward-thinking attitude and professional mindset, setting him apart in terms of potential. His sire has been the leading stallion in Hong Kong for the last three seasons and with this horse’s conformation and temperament, he looks set for an exciting career.

LOT 367 DUNDEEL X WITHOUT RISK, COLT (HKJC)

Hailing from a deep family, this colt embodies quality and presence, setting himself apart from the competition. Sold by Musk Creek Farm, he demonstrated an exceptional attitude, walking out with confidence to demonstrate his quality of movement. Out of a winning daughter of Risk Aversion, his family features the likes of Shania Dane, amongst a multitude of other black-type winners. Set for Hong Kong, there is plenty to look forward to for this horse.

LOT 408 DUNDEEL X AIN’T SHE SMART, COLT (HKJC)

Raised by the elite nursery, Bhima Thoroughbreds, this colt looks another strong prospect for Hong Kong. Closely related to G3 winning Ain’tnodeeldun, he has the page and the conformation to suggest he has abundant potential. With notable balance and fluidity in his movement, this professional horse looks like an athlete for the future.

LOT 499 DIRTY WORK X CAESARISSA, COLT

Striking on day 3 we picked up this powerful colt from Fernrigg Farm by Dirty Work, a G2 winning son of Written Tycoon. Purchased in conjunction with John Thompson, this colt will fit in well at Randwick. His page features G1 winners Russian Revolution and Home Affairs so there’s plenty to be excited about.

LOT 713 WRITTEN TYCOON X GLAMOUR CAT, COLT (HKJC)

With a page littered with black-type, this horse is bred to be successful. By one of Australia’s leading stallions, he demonstrates the characteristics required of a strong, tough racehorse, with plenty of power through his frame. He is from the family of Kittens, a G3 winner and G1 performer, with plenty of winners appearing throughout his family. The first foal of a winning More Than Ready mare, he looks set to establish further success within his own generation.

LOT 757 RUSSIAN REVOLUTION X HOLYHEAD, COLT

This striking colt is a son of the exciting young stallion, Russian Revolution. Consigned by The Chase, he is strong and well-balanced, demonstrating a positive attitude. He is the first foal of a winning Pierro mare. His page features the likes of Learning To Fly, Acrobat and Hips Don’t Lie; with a strong page and a runner’s physique, he looks an exciting prospect for early racetrack success.

LOT 764 DEEP FIELD X HUSSTERICAL, COLT (HKJC)

This colt immediately stands out for his potential. He uses himself with notable efficiency, stepping through in the walk to overtrack by a significant margin. His presence is striking and sets him apart; he demonstrates confidence and intelligence, looking to show the perfect temperament for a racehorse. His page draws back to Breakfast In Bed, the dam of King’s Legacy and champions such as Not A Single Doubt. There is plenty to look forward to with this horse when he heads to Hong Kong.

LOT 798 KING’S LEGACY X ISABELLA, FILLY

Purchased from Tyreel Stud, this filly is from a family of winners. By the exciting first-season sire King’s Legacy, she demonstrates elegance and power throughout her frame, with activity in her walk that suggests natural athleticism. She is a half-sister to the G3 placed Veecee, who shows plenty more ability for the future. Her dam is also a half-sister to two Stakes winners and there is plenty of ability demonstrated throughout the family. She was purchased for Greenfields Lodge to race in WA and will then join their broodmare band in the future.

LOT 931 DEEP FIELD X MERITED, COLT (HKJC)

One of the stand out horses of the sale, this colt looks to be the ultimate professional. From a strong family of winners, he shows an exceptional attitude, walking out with purpose and athleticism. His frame is balanced and strong, with a powerful forearm and gaskin. Given his sire’s success in Hong Kong, this one should be popular at the Hong Kong International Sale.

LOT 1422 PELTZER X TALISA, COLT

This colt by Twin Hills first-season sire Peltzer was the first of our three purchases in Book 2 and he is all class. A well-made type from a top farm in Widden Stud he is out of a half-sister to Group 1 winner Nakeeta Jane and will race in Australia for an overseas client.

LOT 1448 CALYX X UP AND AWAY, COLT

This is the type of horse we like to buy for a bargain price!. Purchased for just $47.5k from Clovelly Park, this son of Calyx will be heading to Lindsey Smith. He is the first foal out of a daughter of Group 1 winner Clean Sweep. His hindquarter and shoulder look to pack a punch and will suit Lindsey’s system at Warrnambool well.

LOT 1466 INVADER X WRITER’S BLOCK, FILLY

We weren’t going to leave the sale without this filly from the moment we laid eyes on her. Purchased from Figtree Thoroughbreds for $65k she was one of the most well-developed and mature fillies of the sale and is from a family of 2YO performers. She was a great way to round a great sale for Boomer Bloodstock.
