Boomer buys six broodmares at Inglis

The 2022 Inglis Broodmare Sales proved a happy hunting ground for Boomer Bloodstock as we secured six quality mares across both the Chairman’s and Australian Broodmare Sale for various clients. The competition was strong but as always there is value to be found within every sale.

Inglis Chairman’s Sale

Lot 59 Only Words

The first of two purchases for Musk Creek Farm at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale was Only Words (NZ) (Sweynesse). A well credentialed G2 winner of The Roses with looks to match was outstanding value at $200k from the draft of Glenesk Thoroughbreds. With her career cut short by injury after winning her final start there was potential for her to achieve greater racetrack results and ultimately increase her value. Another major attraction is she’s by a son of Lonhro who is the broodmare sire of 43 stakes winners.

Lot 79 Specialism

The second purchase to add to Musk Creek Farm’s quality broodmare band at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale was Specialism (Safeguard) for $280k from Mogumber Park. A strong, well balanced grey mare who was a top level 2YO in WA placing in a G3 and running in the quinella at six of nine starts before turning three. She is in-foal to the G1 Golden Slipper winner Farnan, a son of Not A Single Doubt just like super sire Extreme Choice.

Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale

Lot 542 Dwelt

The first purchase at Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale was Dwelt (Dream Ahead) for $55k from Vinery Stud. She presented great value at that price considering she’s a speedy winner over 1100m, a sharp type and in foal to Headwater (Exceed And Excel). Dwelt is also a half-sister to G2-placegetter Commander Harry. Her dam, Our Josephina, is a daughter of Zabeel, a broodmare sire of an incredible 45 G1 winners.

Lot 571 Iconista

Iconista (Denman) was purchased for Murray Thoroughbreds from the draft of Fernrigg Farm for $100k. By another son of Lonhro, she’s a big, strong, athletic mare from a lovely black-type family that includes half-brother Gongs, a multiple G2 placegetter. Iconista is in foal to the promising young sire Star Turn.

Lot 657 Scarletini

Scarletini (Bernardini) was another satisfying purchase when bought for $200k for Misty Valley Thoroughbreds from Amarina Farm. She’s a well-conformed mare and a proven producer already as she’s the dam of G1 ATC Australian Derby winner, Angel of Truth.

Lot 672 Suzila

The final purchase of the sale was Suzila (Snitzel) in foal to Headwater for $260k from Kia Ora. She’s another we thought was fantastic value at the price considering she’s a daughter of Snitzel and is out of the US G1 winner, Mani Bhavan, who’s already produced a stakes-performer in Australia with Petrelle. Her muscle definition and shape is outstanding which gives every impression she’ll produce some quality early maturing offspring.
