Boomer heading to the Tattersals Horses in Training Sale
Next month (29th – 31st October) I’ll be heading back to Newmarket for the Tattersalls’s Horses in Training Sale. It’s been a happy hunting ground for Boomer Bloodstock clients over the years, most recently with $70,000 purchase Double Touch winning the Wickerr S. at Del Mar for Dan Blacker.
While most the horses I buy from this sale head to California, I have purchased one horse relatively cheaply that headed to Australia and he was stakes-placed, so there’s plenty of opportunity there. I try find horses with potential for improvement and that have traits suitable for the region they’re headed to. Horses I buy for California are very different for those I’d purchase for Australian clients, mainly due to track conditions and training environment.
This sale is tackled quite differently to a yearling sale. With only 24hrs or so of inspection time available to buyers, most the work is completed prior to arriving on the sale ground. This involves studying race replays, assessing form, the horse’s action, studying pedigrees and aptitude to various conditions.
