Boomer Purchases Eight at Karaka For Hong Kong

The New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale at Karaka has often produced elite horses and this year eight smart types were purchased, all on behalf of the Hong Kong Jockey Club destined for the 2026 Hong Kong International Sale.

Lot 210 – Kingman x Marsden Cross, colt

This powerful colt by internationally elite sire Kingman was purchased from Pencarrow Stud for $650,000. This colt is the first foal out of the Camelot mare Marsden Cross. Marsden Cross is a half-sister to Listed winner Many Colours, the dam of three European Group winners: G3 winner Ocean Jewel; G2 winner Night Colours; and G1 One Thousand Guineas winner, Mother Earth.

Lot 244 – Per Incanto x Monrecour, colt

A scopey colt by Per Incanto was purchased from the Inglewood Stud draft for $200,000. He is second foal out of the winning and G3 placed Zacinto mare Monrecour, who is a half-sister to Hong Kong G3 winner Fifty Fifty, out of the Listed winner Udiditagain.

Lot 256 – Savabeel x Navapura, colt

This colt by multiple Champion Sire Savabeel was purchased for $160,000 from Little Avondale Stud. He is from a top-class family with his dam, Navapura, being a half-sister to: multiple G1 winner Sharvasti; G3 winner Shastri; G3 winner Bhandara; as well as the dam of Hong Kong G3 winner Tourbillion Diamond.

Lot 290 – Proisir x Palos De Lago, colt

An athletic son of New Zealand’s Champion Sire Proisir, out of the winning Encosta De Lago mare Palos De Lago, was purchased for $260,000 from Kilgravin Lodge. This colt is a half-brother to G3 winner London Banker. Palos De Lago is a half-sister to four-time G1 winner El Segundo, out of G3 winner Palos Verdes. 

Lot 309 – Capitalist x Piccatric, colt

Purchased for $260,000 from Windsor Park Stud, this powerful Capitalist colt is out of the winning Fastnet Rock mare, Piccatric. The dam is a dual winning full-sister to G2 placed My True Love, out of G3 winner Lectrice. He is from the family of G1 winner Light Fantastic, as well as 2001-02 New Zealand Champion 3YO, Leica Guv.

Lot 385 – Wootton Bassett x Semillon, colt

A racy Wootton Bassett colt was a $240,000 purchase from the Cambridge Stud draft. His dam, Semillon is a half-sister to Listed winner Baahama, herself the dam of G3 winners Akihiro – Stimulation (H.K.) and Bartaba; as well as Last Gold, dam of G2 winner Lumiere Rock. The second dam, Silver Rain was a Listed winner, and in addition to Semillon and Baahama, produced G1 placegetter Opposite – Diametric (Aust.).

Lot 409 – Savabeel x Simply You, colt

This outstanding colt by superstar stallion Savabeel, purchased for $620,000 from Waikato Stud, is a full-brother to G2 winner Forgot You. Out of the winning O’Reilly mare, Simply You, who is a three-quarter-sister to G2 winner Rare Insight. The second dam, Glamour Puss is a multiple G1 winning half-sister to G1 winner Vision And Power.

Lot 464 – Savabeel x Symphoic, colt

Another quality Savabeel colt, Lot 464 was a $310,000 purchase from Haunui Farm. Out of the G3 placed O’Reilly mare Symphonic, this colt is a full-brother to 2024 Listed Karaka 3YO Millions Orchestral. A timely update to an already deep pedigree with G1 winners Aegon, Daffodil, and Atishu all appearing on the page.
