Foreign Press Claims Stakes Victory in Mode Plate
The consistency of Foreign Press (Invader) was rewarded on Saturday at Doomben as she secured her first black-type victory in the Listed Mode Plate (1200m).
We identified and purchased this three-year-old filly for $65,000 at the 2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale (Book 2).
Ridden by Cejay Graham, Foreign Press jumped cleanly from barrier 2 and settled in a prominent position. In the straight, she showed genuine grit to hold off a late challenge from the Michael Freedman-trained Sylph.
The victory was particularly notable given the strength of the field, which included multi-million dollar yearling graduates and is a credit to Tony Gollan and his stable, who have managed her progression perfectly.
By Invader out of the Written Tycoon mare Writer’s Block, she represented exactly the kind of value we look for, a well-developed, mature individual with the physical scope to improve. Her record now stands at 4 wins and 3 placings from 8 starts, with career earnings of $372,800.
This win holds a special place for the Boomer Bloodstock team, as the filly was sold among a close-knit group of friends and family..
Having proven she belongs at stakes level, Foreign Press is currently being aimed at the $3 million Magic Millions Sunlight in January. Given her affinity for the Queensland tracks and her current trajectory, we look forward to seeing her compete on one of the biggest stages in Australian racing.
