Three purchases with John Thompson at Inglis Classic

Inglis Classic returned to one book in 2024 consisting of 721 lots going through the ring at an average of $92,764 and median of $70,000.

We hit the ground running picking up the first lot of the day and then coupled that with two more, all for John Thompson for his Randwick stable in Sydney. Inglis Classic is a sale where you can always find great value for exceptional types and this year was no exception.

Lot 1 – King’s Legacy x Vain Elaine (filly)

Our first purchase was a quality filly with a powerful hip and hindquarter for $150k from Middlebrook Valley Lodge. Her five-time winning dam is a half-sister to stakes-placed Smart Lady. This filly was an impressive type, with John already training her half-sister, Hellaine, who is city-placed already from three starts.

Lot 252 – Toronado x Evo Campo (filly)

Our second purchase with John Thompson was this elegant staying filly for $120k from Redbank North. She is out of an American G3 winner Evo Campo, and from the family of breed-shaping sire Mr Prospector. With an impressive, flowing walk and flashy looks she is one for the 3YO series in Sydney at a mile and further.

Lot 528 – Harry Angel x Nodoubtaboutit (colt)

Lastly, we picked up this striking colt by Harry Angel. He is out of the speedy six-time winner Nodoubtaboutit and was purchased for $120k from Barador Stud and looks like being great value. Despite being a November foal, he is already well-built and athletic with even more improvement to come and looks to be the perfect horse to succeed in Sydney.
