Motorious Shines in Gr.2 Joe Hernandez Stakes

Motorious, a Tattersalls Horses in Training Sale graduate Boomer Bloodstock secured for Tony Fanticola in 2021 for 220,000gns, added another impressive win to his resume. The six-year-old gelding showcased his talent in the Gr.2 Joe Hernandez Stakes at Santa Anita, prevailing by a head under Antonio Fresu.

Trained by Phil D’Amato, Motorious has proven himself a versatile and reliable sprinter, with Saturday marking his fourth stakes win. This victory follows a narrow runner-up finish in the Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint and back-to-back triumphs in the Gr.3 Green Flash Handicap at Del Mar, with his career earnings now totaling over US$807,000.

He will now head for a well-deserved break and is set to return for his seven-year-old campaign in the spring with hopes of another Breeders’ Cup berth in November.
