Shining Smile Impresses in Listed Blue Diamond Preview at Sandown

Shining Smile, a two-year-old colt by Spirit of Boom, secured victory in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) at Sandown Lakeside. Despite a slow start, he recovered swiftly under jockey Daniel Stackhouse, settling behind the leaders before displaying a strong turn of foot to win by 1.75 lengths.

Co-trainer Ben Hayes praised Shining Smile’s maturity, noting, “He didn’t over race after he missed the start… He’s the ultimate professional.” Hayes indicated that the colt is on track to progress to the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes. 

Shining Smile was purchased by Boomer Bloodstock at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Weanling Sale for $160,000 for Hong Kong client Victor Lee.

Also on the same day Boomer Bloodstock’s yearling purchase Open Secret (King’s Legacy), trained by John Thompson, secured a win on debut in the Agency Real Estate 2YO Handicap at Randwick. She was purchased with her trainer at the Inglis Classic from Middlebrook Valley Lodge for $150k.
