Sweet Deal (Casino Prince) collected the second black-type victory of her career with a dominant performance at Randwick to win the Gr.3 Triscay Stakes.
The John Thompson-trained mare had already won seven of her 28 starts, headed by a half-length victory in the Gr.3 Tibbie Stakes at her last start although her performance on Saturday was on a whole new level.
Nash Rawiller was in the saddle and the five-year-old broke sharply from the gates and rolled forward to take the lead. Going at a strong tempo, she held a one-length advantage over Spiritual Pursuit coming up to the turn. Then Sweet Deal went into overdrive, widening her advantage in the straight and racing to victory by over two lengths. Spiritual Pursuit held on for second, a length ahead of Pohutukawa.
Sweet Deal was a $67,500 purchase by Boomer Bloodstock at the 2016 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale. She has now won eight races and more than $620,000 in stakes for her nine owners and is a very valuable broodmare prospect.
Sweet Deal is out of Dorothy Evelyn (Royal Academy {USA}), who won three races. She is the dam of two winners from two foals to race.
Dorothy Evelyn’s dam Food of Love (Lunchtime {GB}) is a three-quarter-sister to Chipolata (Lunchtime {GB}), who won the Gr.1 West Australian Derby. She is also a half-sister to Dance Beat (Esperanto {USA}), who won the Gr.3 QTC Lightning as well as three other stakes races.
Sweet Deal lines up next in the Gr.2 Guy Walter Stakes at Randwick ahead of a tilt at the Gr.1 Coolmore Stakes during the Championships in Sydney.
