Tattersalls Autumn HIT Sale 2023 Purchases
The Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale kicked off at the end of October and we were excited to purchase two more tried horses to head to the US.
It’s a sale we’ve had plenty of success at including Gr. 2 winner Hong Kong Harry and Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint runner (5th) Motorious.
At the time of purchase Motorious had won two races from seven starts but there was potential there based on his strong type and pedigree.
He was purchased for £220k for his owner Tony Fanticola to be trained by Phil D’Amato and since then has flourished in California.
In March this year he won his first stakes racing taking out the Gr. 3 San Simeon Stakes before finishing 2nd in the Gr. 2 Twin Spires Turf Sprint Stakes.
With the goal of entering the Gr. 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint in November, he couldn’t have been more impressive dominating in the Gr. 3 Green Flash Handicap to gain his spot in the main event.
The ultimate glory wasn’t to be but Motorious ran a very credible fifth to take his earnings over US$418k with plenty yet to come.

Lot 519 – Simplexity (IRE) (Invincible Army x Masaya)
We were thrilled to secure 2YO colt Simplexity for 40,000 gns from The Castlebridge Consignment. The last-start winner from a well-performed family will head to Dan Blacker’s stable.
Lot 701 – Ottoman Prince (IRE) (Zoffany x Byzanthium)
Our second purchase was Ottoman Prince, a beautiful and athletic 3YO with a great turn of foot. A three-time winner, he was secured for 140,000 gns from Heath House Stables and has all of the right attributes to succeed in California with Phil D’Amato.
